Will Smith has been rocking a new look lately. The “Aladdin” star recently gained people’s attention after growing his beard, which seemingly earned him clownery from his online followers. Having enough of that, the actor addressed the matter in a video he posted on his Instagram page.
In the Monday, March 23 post, the “Suicide Squad” actor was seen inside his car. “I’ve been reading all the comments and now y’all talking crazy about my beard,” he said before panning the camera to his grey beard. “Y’all talking about my beard.”
“I don’t know why y’all act like surprised. I’ve been rocking a beard forever,” he added. The clip then cut to montage featuring various famous scenes from his popular movies and TV shows, including “Men in Black”, “Bad Boys”, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “The Pursuit of Happyness”. However, all the characters he played in them had been edited so that they sported a beard.
Will grew his beard because of his role in “King Richard”, an upcoming biopic about Serena Williams and Venus Williams. The husband of Jada Pinkett Smith is set to play the titular role of Richard Williams, father of the tennis stars. Joining him in the flick is “The Punisher” star Jon Bernthal, who portrays the Williams’ coach Rick Macci.
Meanwhile, Saniyya Syndey and Demi Singleto star as Venus and Serena, respectively. Liev Schrieber and Paul Cohen are also among the cast members.
Tim and Trevor White are producing the movie under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner. Meanwhile, Will and his Westbrook Studios banner are also producing the project. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, “King Richard” is scheduled to be released on November 25.
