It was with a sense of immense pride and pleasure that on December 11, I joined Barbados’ Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Noel Lynch, in attending the promotion ceremony of Andrew Ricardo Harewood to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Army and saw him installed as Deputy Chief Chaplain of the US Army Reserve.
He is the first Black person to hold the post of DCC.
General Harewood is a Barbadian who received his primary and secondary education in Barbados. He represents our country’s finest traditions and what we have been able to achieve and contribute all over the world in many spheres of endeavour.
